Although it might not seem that way but cleaning a Vacuum Cleaner is one of the simplest tasks in the world. Anyone can do it if they have the right tools and proper instructions to guide them through the process.
If you are looking for a few steps to clean your Vacuum Cleaner, then keep reading on because we described in detail how one can clean their Vacuum Cleaner quickly and easily.
Things You Will Need
- Vacuum Cleaner (of course…but just in case you don’t have one, Homeguyd has a very detailed guide on how to buy one)
- Soap Solution
- Vacuum Cleaner Manual
- Soft Cloth
Cleaning Instructions for your Vacuum Cleaner:
Step 1: Unplug your machine
The first step requires you to turn off your Vacuum Cleaner and then unplug the machine from the electrical socket. Make sure you do this before you start cleaning the machine or you might get a shock due to the residual electrical energy.
Step 2: Remove the Attachments
Once you have unplugged your machine, you need to remove all the extra attachments or accessories that are attached to it. This includes the brush roll, hose, belt, and so on. This is important because you need to take care of all your vacuum parts separately and clean them separately.
Step 3: Clean out the Vacuum Bags or Container
Once you have removed the attachments, you need to clean the vacuum bags and containers. If you have a disposable vacuum bag, then throw it in the garbage and if you have a recyclable vacuum bag, then you will need to throw the dirt and dust that you collected with the vacuum in the garbage and then clean your vacuum bag according to the user manual provided with your machine.
If you have a bagless vacuum cleaner, then you would need to empty the container in a nearby garbage. Make sure that you remove the bag and the container near a garbage container itself so that the dust or dirt might not get scattered around.
Once you have emptied your vacuum cleaner container, you need to clean it properly with a soap and water before you use it again.
Step 4: Clean the Filters
The next step would be to remove the vacuum filters and then clean it with the help of a soapy solution. It is important to clean the filters because they are responsible for segregating the dirt and dust in your vacuum cleaner and ensure that no particles get loose back into the vacuumed air.
Make sure you clean the filters using the user instruction manual provided to you and ensure that your filter is safe for washing with a soap before you actually clean it. You can use an old toothbrush to remove the clogged dirt and dust and make sure you air dry it and wipe it clean before you insert it back into the vacuum cleaner.
Step 5: Clean the Attachments
Lastly, you need to clean all the vacuum parts and attachments by soaking them in a soapy solution and then scrubbing them a little with the help of a brush. Make sure that you don’t wet any wiring part and air dry the other parts as quickly as possible.
